Metaphysical Dictionary Terms.......C. Fillmore
Metaphysics
- The systematic study of the science of Being; that which transcends
the physical. By pure metaphysics is meant a clear understanding of the
realm of ideas and their legitimate expression.
Race
Consciousness - The human race
has formed laws of physical birth and death, laws of sickness and physical
inability, law making food the source of bodily existence, laws of mind
that recognize no other source of existence except the physical. The sum
total of these laws from a race consciousness separate from and independent
of creative Mind. When creative Mind sought to help men spiritually, the
mind of the flesh opposed it and made every effort to solve its problem
in its own way. The great need of the human family is mind control. Jesus
showed us that mastery is attained through realization of the power of
Spirit.
Altar - Stabilized place of worship.
A fixed, definite center in consciousness; the place in consciousness
where we meet the Lord and are willing to give up our sins, to give up
the lower for the higher, the personal for the impersonal. The altar mentioned
in Rev. 11.1 symbolizes the consciousness of full consecration that takes
place first in the temple of worship within; “Present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable to GOD, which is your spiritual service” (Rom
12:1)
False
Prophets - Deceptive thoughts that
have been built in error, selfish desires. False prophets are the representations
of deceptive religious thought. They seem innocent and harmless like sheep,
but are in reality selfish and dangerous. “Beware of false prophets, who
come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves” (Matt:
7:15)
Fear - “Painful emotion marked by alarm;
dread; disquiet” (Webster) Fear is one of the most subtle and destructive
errors that the carnal mind in man experiences. Fear is a paralyzer of
mental action; it weakens both mind and body. Fears throws dust in our
eyes and hides the mighty spiritual forces that are always with us. Blessed
are those who deny ignorance and fear and affirm the presence and power
of Spirit.
