Easter -
The awakening and raising to spiritual consciousness of the I AM in man,
which has been dead in trespasses and sins and buried in the tomb of
materiality.
Separation of Religion
and State - Some statesmen and
politicians urge the separation of religion and state because they do not
understand the true character or mission of religion. The clergy are
responsible for this misconception; they emphasize the saving of the soul,
that it may be prepared to dwell happily in heaven after death. This
teaching removes religion from its true field of work, which is making
people better and happier here and now. As a result of this teaching that
the greater rewards of religion will come after death, Christianity has
been robbed of the major part of its power as a harmonizer of worldly
affairs. Jesus did not promise rewards after death, but on the contrary,
emphasized service in this world as the supreme thing. Mortal man thinks
leadership is evidence of greatness, but Jesus taught that greatness is
attained through service.
Revelation -
An unveiling, a disclosure of Truth, making known that which is hidden.
The revelation of Christ to all men is the ultimate revelation. Divine
revelation is much more common than is understood. The spirit of truth is
revealing the hidden wisdom to thousands on every hand. Poets and writers
of Truth are being inspired of the Most High. Quiet citizens in every walk
of life are the recipients of the divine word. Every man who has earnestly
asked for divine guidance, or who has earnestly desired to do right in the
sight of God and man, is being taught by the Holy Spirit.
Ego -
The I. The ego is man, and by reason of his divinity he makes and remakes
as he wills. In this lie his greatest strength and his greatest weakness.
The ego of itself is possessed of nothing. It is a mere ignorant child of
innocence floating in the Mind of Being, but through the door of its
consciousness must pass all the treasures of God.
Egotism -
A state of consciousness built up by the will functioning in the sense
world. In this false expression it looks upon itself as great, honorable,
mighty. Supreme egotism stops the flow of spiritual life in the organism,
and body atrophy sets in.
